About Oonagh
Welcome to Oonagh Counselling in Sutton Coldfield. I offer a compassionate, safe, and confidential space where you can share your story, navigate life's challenges, and move forward at a pace that feels entirely comfortable for you.

My journey into counselling
My path to becoming a therapist began when I lost a close friend to motor neurone disease. During her illness, she shared deeply personal aspects of living with a life-limiting condition, and I felt truly privileged that she trusted me with her thoughts and vulnerability. Inspired to give back, I began fundraising for the hospice charity that supported her, where I met and spoke with many individuals receiving counselling care. Wanting to understand how to truly support people during their most difficult moments, I enrolled in my first counselling course. That initial step led me on a dedicated path to becoming a qualified, registered counsellor with the BACP.

A safe, client-centred approach
In one-to-one sessions, my primary focus is to provide a grounded, calm, and confidential setting where you feel secure and truly heard. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor our work together around your individual needs rather than relying on a rigid framework. You are always in control of what you choose to share, setting the pace of each session so that you feel supported, respected, and centred throughout your healing journey.

Areas of support and professional accreditation
I specialise in supporting adults through bereavement, grief, and the profound impact of life-limiting diseases. I also have deep experience helping clients work through trauma, childhood trauma, and complex family relationships. As a Registered Member MBACP (registration number: 00981413), I adhere strictly to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, ensuring ethical practice, ongoing development, and complete confidentiality for every client I welcome into my practice in Sutton Coldfield.
"Finding a therapist who allows you to speak honestly and set your own pace makes all the difference when dealing with grief and life changes."
